Velocity Computer Aided Dispatch
System

Velocity
Computer Aided Dispatch is a fully integrated computer-aided dispatch system
designed to aid public safety organizations in responding to emergency and
non-emergency situations. Velocity CAD features an easy-to-use Graphical User
Interface (GUI), making call receipt, unit deployment and status management
simple to learn and even more simple to use.
Harnessing
the power of Microsoft’s Windows operating systems and SQL 2000 backend
databases, Velocity is a mission-critical application designed to function in
the most demanding communications centers.
Dispatchers
and call takes alike will marvel at this easy-to-use, menu driven system, which
can be operated by using a mouse, a keyboard or a combination of both. While
Velocity has all the features and functionality of CAD systems found in some of
the largest dispatch centers, it is suitable for even the smallest, single
console agencies.
Immediate
access to local, state and national crime information databases, Automatic
Location Identification and Automatic Vehicle Location are just a few of the
integrated features Velocity has to offer.
Velocity Features and Functionality
-
Fully Configurable
– Velocity’s set utility allows agencies to define event types, priorities,
dispositions and many more commonly used codes.
-
Automatic Call Posting
– With only a complaint type and address entered, new calls are automatically
posted for dispatchers, allowing them to assign units and save precious
minutes.
-
Radio Channel Assignment
– For agencies utilizing multiple talkgroups and/or radio channels, Velocity’s
RCA feature will automatically recommend channel assignments based on certain
predefined criteria.
-
No Fail Unit Status
– With No Fail Unit Status, dispatchers are prevented from “double statusing”
a unit. Velocity automatically keeps track of a unit’s status, thus
preventing a mistaken call status from happening.
-
Call for Service Details
– The CFS Details window displays all details of a call for service in
a single window, saving the dispatcher from opening multiple windows to view
common information.
-
Auto-NCIC Traffic Lookup
– State and
NCIC inquiries are automatically performed on all traffic stop with the
optional NCIC module.
-
Premise Alert System
– Premise alerts can be entered to warn dispatchers and responding mobile
units of potential dangers, important medical information and warrant
information at a specific location.
-
Integrated Mapping
– Calls for service and unit information are displayed on the integrated
detailed map. Zoom, Pan, distance measure, address plots and reverse-geocoding
are just some of the features. Agency’s equipped with the Velocity Mobile GPS
interface engine allows the call to be plotted and the closest unit to be
visually track by the dispatcher to the call location
-
Duplicate Incident
Detection System
– DIDS prevents dispatchers from entering the same call multiple times.
-
Response Service Rotation
– Commonly used assistance agencies such as towing companies, coroners, and
private ambulance companies can be rotated on a fair basis.
-
Velocity Diverter
– A special alerting system to alert dispatchers and mobile units of hospital
and jail diversion requests.
-
Velocity Wait and Return
– Calls for service can be automatically reversed with a single keystroke,
saving dispatchers from having to re-key the information when an EMS unit
returns a patient to his/her original location.
-
Common Place Resolver
– CPR automatically resolves common names to an address without having to
remember complicated keyboard commands or identifier codes. Just type the
common name and keep moving, Velocity will resolve it for you.
-
Detailed System Reporting
– Velocity has a numerous system reports to keep communications center
managers and city councils up-to-date. Number of CFS, Unit Response Time,
Number of CFS by Dispatcher, and Response Time Calculations are just a few of
the reports that can be selected.
-
Mobile Integration Engine
– Velocity
seamlessly integrates with the Velocity Mobile Data System (VMDS) to provide a
solid information link between the dispatcher and the field service unit.
Dispatch Calls For Service, view all CAD calls, view all units and status, are
among the automated features that work within the interface link. Mobile and
CAD users utilize the same Chat and Email system providing a second redundant
secure method of communications. All mobile NCIC queries done in the field are
echoed to the CAD workstation allowing dispatchers to observe NCIC field
responses for possible hits within CAD Map.
